BUICK gL6

China: October 2017 – June 2023

The GL6 to be sold below the successful GL8, is not related to the Opel Zafira, as sometimes suggested, but based on the PATAC K platform, this time with independent four-link rear suspension.  Over 36,000 were sold in its first full year, and 26,000 in 2019.  It was advertised to attract the old Lacetti-based Excelle owners.

The GL6 is a three-row 6-seater; a 5-seater was added in October 2018 but withdrawn in mid-2020.  In November 2020, the 48V mild hybrid system was added to the engine, while the eConnect interconnection technology, which now became also available in the entry level model, was upgraded to 3.0 level, to be recognized in the last digit of the new 323T badges, with the 2 rather casually standing for the 6-speed automatic transmission and the first 3 representing the engine torque output being under 250 Nm.  In 2022, 7,800 were sold, and less than 1,000 in 2023.
